This Little Light of Mine
Do you remember the children’s song, This Little Light of Mine? You know the one where you held your finger up like a candle and sang at the top of your lungs…
This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine.
This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine.
Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.
Ok maybe I was the only one singing at the top of my lungs, but what wonderful memories I have declaring what I now know to be based on Matthews 5:14-16.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
With Matthew 5:14-16 as our backdrop let’s consider the word L.I.G.H.T.
Today let’s each assess how well we are letting our lights shine! This little light of mine might be small, but when all of our little lights get together we can illuminate the world with the only light that truly matters—Jesus!
