Vision for Right Thinking
Welcome to 2020! A year sure to be filled with metaphors relating to vision.
See your future with clarity.
Focus your attention on achieving your goals.
Check your spiritual eye sight.
Vision is one of the primary senses God gifts us with so we can interact with the world. When our vision is poor we look for ways to correct the cause. I’ve worn glasses for a long time so I know the value of corrective lenses. I wear my glasses to read better, drive safely, see people and objects with greater detail. The vision FROM my glasses makes a difference in my life.
I want us to apply this concept of corrective vision to our spiritual lives. God’s Word provides needed correction in our lives because God’s Word corrects our thinking. Romans 12:1-2 helps us. “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice for this is your reasonable act of worship. Do not be conformed any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to prove what is the good, perfect, and acceptable will of God.”
Just like I go to the Optometrist and ask for an eye exam to know the correction my vision needs, I need to present my body to God and ask Him to show me the correction my thinking needs. Just like I have a choice to use my vision prescription to obtain the needed glasses, I have a choice to get into God’s Word for the renewal my mind needs. Once I have my glasses the doctor does not make me wear them. In the same way, God does not “make us” renew our mind and prove His will for our life. No, in both cases we have a choice.
My prayer for the women who read this in 2020 is…
- we choose to have our spiritual vision checked by asking God to identify areas of our thinking that need correction..
- we choose to take steps to correct any poor spiritual vision by addressing wrong thinking, and establishing biblical ways of thinking.
- we choose to daily walk by faith and not by sight, because we are committed to cultivating vision that comes FROM right thinking.
Serving with Love,
Elizabeth
